5 Steps to follow before moving

Whether you are moving from Sydney to Brisbane or from Brisbane to Sydney, at Prime Transport Group we want to make sure you tick all the boxes on the list before you make the big move. We understand moving to a new home can be an overwhelming process.

Our solution is simple: plan ahead!

To make it easier, we created a checklist to make sure you don’t forget any steps along the way.

1. Find your moving services in Sydney and book in your preferred date.

At Prime Transport Group, we offer the best quality services, where care and efficiency are our top one priority. We provide a cost-efficient and reliable service, ensuring the safety of all our regional and interstate deliveries.

2. Pack all your belongings and place them in labelled boxes.

When moving to a new place, organisation is key. Try to categorise all your items and put them in separate boxes accordingly, that way you will find it easier when unpacking. Labelling each box is also essential to distinguish each package and avoid confusion. If you don’t have a label maker… don’t worry! There are other things you can use to tag the boxes such as a magic marker or a piece of paper and sticky tape. If you don’t know where to find some, Officeworks has great prices on moving labels that you can find on the link below. https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/avery-moving-labels-100-pack-av39130#:~:text=These%20Avery%20Labels%20can%20be,or%20putting%20items%20into%20storage.

However, if you feel like packing isn’t your strength, you can also rely on our expertise, as we also provide packing and unpacking services to make your life easier.

3. Disconnect all utilities.

Once you know when you are moving out, you can arrange with your provider to disconnect your utilities when suitable, and then later arrange a connection at your new place. These utilities include:

  • Gas

  • Water

  • Electricity

  • Internet

Just remember to contact all your suppliers as you may not have the same provider for all your utilities.

4. Ensure your bills are up to date.

Before you leave your current home, make sure you pay any outstanding bills so they don’t come back to haunt you. It is expected of you to make sure you don’t leave any bills behind, in order to leave the place with a peace of mind, but also to avoid any late fees or misplacing the paperwork.

5. Update your address details.

Last but not least, when moving to a new place, one of the things that most people forget is to update their address details. We recommend making a list of all your places and services such as financial institutions, health practitioners, clubs and associations, workplace and the children’s school.

Also, remember to tell all your friends and family where your new home is, so they can come and visit you and throw a great housewarming party!
